2025 MPAC Financial Analysis Project

At the request of the Department of Canadian Heritage, Ontario Presents is updating its 2017 Municipal Performing Arts Centre (MPAC) Financial Analysis Survey.  A template designed to gather each venue’s financial results from its last completed fiscal year will be emailed to OP-member MPACs in early May.

The purpose of the study is to: (a) update the 2017 report with current, financial data on venues’ operating revenues and expenditures; and (b) conduct a Fall ’25 Master Class on how to use the financial data when making the case for government and private sector support.

The 2017 study provided a comparative overview of 18 MPACs ranging in budget size from $100K to over $3-million.  The study grouped respondents into three budget categories and displayed graphically and numerically a breakdown of each venue’s operating revenues and expenditures in three key areas: venue operations; community & commercial rentals; and the venue’s own market-supported and at-risk programming.

The 2025 study will use the same analytical approach.  Results are expected to be collected by the middle of June 2025 with a draft report to be distributed ahead of an early fall gathering of the study’s participants.

Upon completing their participation in the study, MPACs will be able to clearly demonstrate the value that they provide their communities from the investments made by local, provincial, and federal governments as well private-sector and market-generated support.

A Zoom call to provide further information on the 2025 study is scheduled for Thursday May 15 at 10:30 a.m.
