Do you know the AODA?

If you have even one employee in the province of Ontario who interacts with the public in any way, that person must be trained on the AODA. Do you know what it is? It’s the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and it came into effect in 2005. It is a requirement for any business that functions in this province to be in compliance, and that includes Customer Service Training, compliance with the Employment Standards, the Information & Communications Standards, and eventually the Built Environment Standards! If you don’t know what I’m talking about, please call me and I’ll explain what it is and what you need to know. I am Lauri Sue Robertson, and I own Disability Awareness Consultants. I helped to create the Customer Service Standards and the Employment Standards, and I am an expert on the built environment. Please call 416-267-5939, and don’t panic! It won’t hurt, and it won’t be expensive - honest!

Note for members: If you have any questions about accessibility standards, please feel free to ask Lauri by joining Accessibility and Awareness discussion forum on the Members Area of the CCI site.
