Critical Response Workshop - Grand Theatre, Kingston

CCI - Ontario Presenting Network and the Grand Theatre are pleased to present a workshop to introduce arts professionals to an effective way to communicate with their audiences through critical response.

Critical response is an effective way to generate audience feedback on a dance piece, musical performance or any type of artistic product through dialogue. Critical response can help you to connect with your audience and help them draw meaningful insight from the work they experience.

Lead by Steve Busa, Artistic Director of Red Eye Theater Collaboration in Minneapolis, MN and <a href="http://blogs.desmoinesregister.com/dmr/index.php/2009/10/14/eric-olmsch… Olmscheid, Director of Programming and Education of Des Moines Performing Arts in Des Moines, Iowa, this four-hour workshop will teach you the steps of the critical response process:

Observing closely what you notice without judgement

Reminding of your prior experiences

Surfacing feeling that you encountered with the experience

Asking questions that arise from the work

Speculating the creator’s intent of the work based on your interpretation (what it’s about)

This workshop is for arts administrators, artists, programmers and marketers.

Admission is free, but pre-registration is required as space is limited (RSVP below).
