The Opportunity

Applications are now CLOSED for the virtual Artist Showcases.

Ontario Presents is hosting a Virtual Networking Series in September and October of 2023 where selected artists and their representatives will have the opportunity to meet Ontario based presenters for networking and connectivity.

We welcomed all disciplines in the performing arts, dance, theatre, circus and music to apply. There will be a total of 30 projects selected to showcase during two sessions that will take place during October 2023.

Each Showcase of your work will be offered over Zoom to groups of presenters from Ontario in 5-minute, pre-recorded presentations.

Application Requirements

To be considered for a Showcase slot, all applicants must provide a summary proposal through our online form which includes the following required information:

  • Your name, email, telephone number, social media and website
  • A link to a photograph (300 dpi)
  • Company/organization name, and address
  • Video and/or Vimeo links to past productions and work(s) in progress
  • Description of proposed project (maximum 350 words)
  • Objective of participation: i.e. to develop community-based partnerships, touring opportunities, performance engagements etc. (maximum 250 words)

What We Are Looking For:

  • The project represents work that is tour ready.
  • Projects that are suitable for different venue types (eg. small halls, school gyms, larger performance venues).
  • Work that offers workshop opportunities
  • Good quality video of the show that will be touring.
  • In the case of theatre and dance, we understand that it may be difficult to have video of the proposed work. Submissions demonstrating your style and production values will be accepted with a description of the proposed touring work and design drawings or photos if available.

Additional Information:

  • All 30 artist pitches will be pre-recorded. OP will provide technical resources to support the recordings upon request.
  • Special consideration will be given to applications from artists who identify as Indigenous, Black, or People of Colour, artists with disabilities, Deaf, Mad artists, and/or artists from the LGBTQ2S+ community. The jury will be placing emphasis on representation from these communities in the selection process.
  • Projects that have been presented prior to 3 years ago will not be considered by the jury.
  • Applications should be from professional organizations that are registered companies and/or registered not-for-profit organizations in Canada.
  • Once showcasing artists are selected, we will do our best to work with each artist to provide guidance and non-financial support to ensure the best virtual showcase experience possible.
  • Showcasing artists will be expected to be available for an online conversation with interested presenters following their showcase. These conversations will take place in the weeks directly after the event.

Selection Process:

A maximum of 30 projects will be selected by a panel which includes professional representatives from across the province. Applicants will be judged on the above criteria. Additionally, we will be looking for:

  • Demonstrated potential for the proposed work to be of interest to provincial presenters - both volunteer and professional
  • Works that are of the highest artistic excellence
